Practice 11 - Co-ordination and Passing

I went back to doing some co-ordination exercises and passing. I used the ladders for the co-ordination stuff

Warm up - 20 Min

·        Two sets of ladders, two groups of 5.

·        The girls performed different steps through the ladders. When they got to the end I had a parent throwing a ball to them. They caught the ball and rejoined their line.

Focus on:

Fun

Performing the steps as accurately as possible (arms and legs moving together)

Variation:

You can have the girls passing, volleying at the end of the exercise. No heading.

Passing / Vision - 20 Minutes

1] The girls make a decent size circle. 4 players have a soccer ball.

·        The girls with the ball dribble inside the circle and pass to a girl who has no ball, then follow their pass. The receiving player then does the same.

 Focus on:

First touch

Vision

Decision making

Communication

Pass

Variation:

The girls dribble inside the circle, perform a turn and then pass.

Passing / Vision - Cont.....25 Min

2] Same set up as above………..still with 4 balls on the outside. Place 3 players in the middle of the circle without a ball.

·        The middle player calls for a ball, receives and passes to another player who has no ball.

·        They cannot pass back to the player they received from.

·        Once they have made their pass, they call for another ball, from another player.

Focus On:

Decision Making - Before receiving the ball

First touch

Pass

Variation

Play 2 v 1 in the middle. The ball is passed to one player, who passes to their team mate, who then passes to the outside.

25 Minutes - Scrimmage

The game was played on small goals. Two girls went with David, my AC to do some GK work.
