Overlaps

Players in a 30 x 20 area as shown above with a cone in the middle. One ball at each group.
  1. At the same time, players pass the ball to the middle player A. The passer then goes on an overlap. Player A takes the ball with open body position and passes into runners path. The player then passes across to the next group.

Like the first exercise but once player A receives the ball he/she passes to player B, who passes to oncoming player who passes across to next group.

Focus on:

  • Quality of pass.
  • Timing of run.
  • Body position.

Variation:

  • Put two players in the middle. The ball is passed to one of them, who sets the other for them to make the pass to the player overlapping.
