Decision Making |
1. Decision Making - The most important one for players. Encourage players to keep looking around to see options. Players should be making decisions even before the ball has reached them. |
2. Team Work - All the topics on the pyramid are important, but none of them would work without team work. Encourage the players to work for each other and to encourage each other. Take the team on activities or outings, this will help the togetherness. |
3. Ball Control - Players must not be afraid of the ball, they must be happy to have the ball in their control. This should be worked on constantly, especially on the young players. |
4. Passing - Encourage passing and always tell your players to work on their accuracy of the pass, weight of pass and the timing of the pass. |
5. Movement - In your sessions, guide the players along by using questions and answers. The players should always be thinking for the team and themselves. All players should be thinking ' how can I help the team? Also encourage players to offer support while the ball is moving. |
6. Positive 1 v 1 - This will encourage the players not to be afraid in either defending or attacking. Let the players express themselves. If each player sets out to win their 1 v 1, you will have a greater chance of winning the game. |
