Coaches have their
own theories on how to defend and how to attack. Below are guidelines to
help Coaches of all ages. It's entirely up to you on which principles you
include or exclude. Players should understand the principles of Defending and attacking. A way of showing your players is by doing a tutorial. A tutorial is a practice session broken down into stages. You will start with few players and then gradually keep adding players. You can give a Q & A session to the players that are not taking part. |

A way of coaching the Principles of
defending is to begin with one defender against one attacker playing to the
Goal which has a GK. The Coach can then progress to two defenders against
two attackers, then 3 v 3, identifying the relevant principles as the
practice progresses. Another way would be to start with 5 v 5 playing to Goal. The Coach lets the players play and stops the practice as soon as a principle of defense is identified. |

This starts with 5 v 5 playing to Goal (or more). The Coach lets the players play and stops the practice as soon as a principle of Attack is identified. |
