Its Match day.....................

YOUTH DRILLS PLAYER SEARCH PSYCHOLOGY INTERVIEWS LINKS
On match day it is important to prepare the right way and be professional. Your players can still be switched off, so your preparation for the game ahead can help the coach/manager to see who is concentrating and who is not. It is the coaches job to work out the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the players and the game. Depending on the level you coach can depend on what you know about the opposition, but first concentrate on what you want from your team.

Plan:

  1. Get your players to the game at least 45 - 60 minutes before kick off.

  2. Discuss the players/team tactics and tasks.

  3. Go and warm up (not a quick warm up in ten minutes, perform a slow relaxed warm up for 25-30 minutes)

  4. As a coach take notes on the game and keep encouraging your players.

  5. At the intervals point out the good points and coach the players on the problems that are occurring.

  6. At the end of the game cool down the whole team and then talk on what has happened in the game.

  7. Work on the problems that occurred in the match at the next coaching session.

Take your relevant match day warm ups from the warm up section on the youth development page and use your imagination.
